In the play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is the main character
I enjoyed reading about. Romeo is a 17 year old and is a Montague. Romeo is very
impulsive and makes quick un-thought decisions that usually have bad outcomes.
Romeos impulsiveness is good to read about because he then creates what happens
in the play. The main idea is revenge. There is revenge all-throughout the play
between the Capulet’s and the Montague’s.

I enjoyed reading about Romeo because of his quick
un-thought decisions which created his character. An example of Romeos
impulsiveness is when he finds out about Juliet’s so called death, and the
straight away he rushes back to Verona instead of waiting for the mail which
explained the events. Another example was when Romeo arrived back in
Verona and
rushed to go buy poison without thinking it through properly. “Hold there are
forty ducats; let me have a dram of poison, such spoon-speeding gear as will
disperse itself through all the veins.” This is a quote from when Romeo buys the
poison. This is an example of Romeos impulsiveness because he made a totally
un-thought decision which lead to bad consequences, this happened all throughout
the play, every quick unplanned decision he made there was always bad
consequences around the corner.

When Romeo marries Juliet this shows a great deal of his
character, he is impulsive, juvenile, adventurous and desperate. All these
words describe Romeo when he marries Juliet. Because he rushes into marriage
after only knowing her for a day this shows how impulsive he is. When I say he
is juvenile he is inexperienced with relationships, adventurous because of the
way he wants to quickly marry Juliet without thought, he just wants to get on
with his life and have a good time. Romeo was a little desperate; he was trying
to forget about Rosaline so he went out in search of a new girl to love. A
quote backing this up is “my hearts dear love is set on the fair daughter of
rich Capulet.” This is saying Romeo instantly in love with Juliet, “love at
first sight.” I enjoyed reading about Romeo because he created the play, idea
and story line by his impulsiveness, quick thinking decisions.

Romeo helped me understand the main idea of revenge in
the play. One example of revenge involving Romeo was when he killed Tybalt
because Tybalt killed his mate Mercutio. This was an act of revenge, and wanting
to get someone back. A quote from Romeo is “staying for thine to keep him
company, either thou or I, or both must go with him.” What is meant by this is
that they are about to fight and either Tybalt or Romeo or both will die and go
up to heaven with Mercutio. Romeo was so furious and angry with Tybalt for
slaying Mercutio that he takes matters into his own hands and wanted revenge on
Tybalt, and unlike Romeo trying to prevent fighting he goes after Tybalt and
tries to avenge Mercutio's death. Romeos revenge then turns to custard, he kills
Tybalt, but he is then banished from Verona. His vendetta leads to a terrible
consequence, he didn’t just get banished from Verona but he also got banished from Juliet, he
was unable to see her. Romeo helped me understand the idea of revenge by him
going after Tybalt after Tybalt killing Mercutio. Revenge is an idea in the play
because of the never-ending feud between the Capulet’s and Montague’s. Romeos
revenge is like the Montague’s getting revenge on the Capulet’s.

In Romeo and Juliet I enjoyed reading about Romeo because
of his impulsive character which leads to the creation of the storyline. Romeo
also helped me understand the main idea of revenge by killing Tybalt when
Tybalt killed Mercutio in an act of revenge.
